‘Serendipity Smiles: A Joyful Review of the New Hallmark Irish Movie’

Allen Leech from Downton Abbey and JoAnna Garcia Swisher from Sweet Magnolias are so likable that they make As Luck Would Have It one of the best Hallmark rom-coms in years.

The storyline is charming without being overly sweet, the setting is picturesque, and the romance is just right. It’s a wonderful addition to Hallmark’s movie collection that fans of the genre will want to watch again and again.

The movie was filmed in the Republic of Ireland, featuring real locations like Howth Castle, lush green landscapes, and the Cliffs of Moher. These gorgeous settings might inspire you to travel to Ireland. If you’ve already been there, the movie will likely make you nostalgic and eager to return.

Lindsey Johnson travels to Ireland to buy land with an old castle, aiming to develop it into a resort for her employers. But the local community isn’t thrilled with her plan, especially Brennan O’Brien, a handsome but aloof local. To win them over, she decides to stay for the town’s annual matchmaking festival and gets to know the people. Along the way, she starts falling for Brennan, setting the stage for a happy ending.

The interesting twist is that the matchmaking festival in the movie is a real event in Ireland. While it’s more elaborate in the film, the fact that it exists adds a touch of authenticity that enhances the story.

JoAnna Garcia Swisher turns a somewhat simply written character into a stylish and captivating one. Allen Leech, famous for his role in Downton Abbey, shines in the romantic scenes, making their chemistry believable and engaging. You’ll find yourself rooting for Lindsey and Brennan to end up together. The fairy tale romance, combined with the stunning Irish backdrop, makes this movie work despite the familiar clichés.

In the end, if you’re a fan of Hallmark romance movies, adore the actors (Downton Abbey fans will enjoy this treat), or like rom-coms such as Leap Year, you should definitely check this movie out. It’s a feel-good film that will leave you smiling.

As Luck Would Have It premiered on Hallmark back in April, so check your local Hallmark listings to see if it’s airing again. If you missed it, you can now buy it on Digital or DVD.
