The series is set in 19th century London and follows Eliza, Britain’s first female private detective. After her father’s death leaves her without money, her only option for financial security seems to be marriage. However, Eliza is determined to take a different path. She decides to take over her father’s private detective agency. Although she knows the ins and outs of detective work, she faces challenges in a male-dominated field. Together, Eliza and The Duke navigate a fiery partnership filled with tension as they solve crimes in the gritty parts of 1880s London.
