September 2019 marked the 10th anniversary of The Vampire Diaries. It’s been nearly fourteen years since we were first introduced to the supernatural residents of Mystic Falls. Over eight seasons, the show had its highs and lows but remained must-see TV. One of the main reasons fans tuned in each week was to “ship” different characters. The love triangle involving Damon, Elena, and Stefan was a central plotline that captivated viewers from the very beginning.

Damon and Elena officially became a couple in Season 4, Episode 7. Although her sire bond to Damon brought some doubts, Elena eventually confirmed her love for him was real. She chose Damon once and for all in Season 4, Episode 23. Despite the ups and downs, they found their way back to each other and ended up happy.
