Review: Season’s Greetings by Kira Snyder

The third installment in Kira Snyder’s YA series is a delightful novella that expertly weaves a captivating mystery without feeling rushed. Much like the first two books, it’s incredibly engaging and pulls you right into Celia’s world of mysterious letters, this time featuring a Christmas card just in time for the holidays.

In this story, Celia stumbles upon a Christmas card asking for help and realizes it’s connected to her grandmother’s missing jewelry. This sets her off on a quest to uncover the truth. With her friends Tilly, Sloan, Luc, and Donovan by her side, Celia dives into the mystery, aiming to bring balance to her world. The plot is fun and light-hearted, making it a perfect read with a cup of hot cocoa.

Kira Snyder masterfully spins tales with intriguing characters. This series stands out because it’s interactive, letting you choose which characters help Celia solve the mystery, adding an extra layer of fun. Since this book is shorter than the first two, you have more time to explore all the different choices. By the third book, you might notice your preferences. For instance, I first chose Sloan, and for fans of “Veronica Mars,” Sloan in this book is reminiscent of Logan Echolls but still uniquely himself. The book allows us to learn more about his character, his loneliness, and what drives him. Tilly also gets some character development, especially around her family life during Christmas.

While the mystery might not be the toughest to crack, it’s still an enjoyable read. It really captures the Christmas spirit and the essence of New Orleans in December.

Overall Impression:
If you loved the first two books, you’ll equally enjoy this one. Although some character decisions might feel slightly forced, the series remains a delightful and engaging read. It’s the perfect holiday book for those looking to mix a bit of YA paranormal mystery with some Christmas cheer.
