About Lucille and Cyril
Nurse Lucille Anderson, played by Leonie Elliott, joined the show in the first episode of season seven. Before moving to England, she was a librarian in Jamaica. She became a vital part of the midwifery team at Nonnatus House due to her hard work.
Cyril Robinson, portrayed by Zephryn Taitte, appeared in series eight. He is a mechanic and civil engineering student from British Guiana, with a preacher’s heart who eventually takes on a leadership role at his church.
The friendship and slow-burning romance between Cyril and Lucille gradually unfold, culminating in a beautiful proposal in season 10.

Cyril gets 25 guineas after an engineering exam and spends it on a new radiogram. Lucille is not pleased, thinking it’s a waste when he could have saved for the future. This little disagreement leads to a significant revelation and the month’s romantic moment.
The Romantic Moment of the Month: Lucille and Cyril
Lucille, in a forgiving mood, brings Cyril a Lord Tanamo LP as a gift. She notices the radiogram is missing and asks about it.
Cyril, feeling remorseful, apologizes for not discussing the purchase with her. Lucille plays down the incident, calling it just a radiogram, but Cyril insists it’s more than that. It made him realize he needs to involve her in planning for the future because he can’t imagine it without her.
Curious, Lucille asks what he means. Cyril explains that meeting her changed his life completely, making him live in the present and think of their future together. He kneels, presenting an engagement ring, showing the purchase of the radiogram led to this moment of proposing.
Caught by surprise, Lucille gets emotional as Cyril pours out his feelings and asks her to marry him. Through happy tears, she joyfully says yes.
It’s a heartfelt and memorable proposal, leaving us eagerly anticipating their wedding in the upcoming Call the Midwife Christmas special, hopefully without any drama or tragedy.
