Breaking news for Kdrama fans! If you’ve been missing DramaFever and relying on Viki or Netflix for your romantic Korean drama needs, there’s a new option available in the United States. As of June 16, 2022, Kocowa, a Korean video streaming app, is now on Amazon Prime Video, offering several favorite shows with new content added daily!
What’s Kocowa?
Kocowa launched in November 2016 and has steadily gained popularity. Despite this, it’s remained somewhat niche. Partnering with Amazon Prime Video could change that. Kocowa is run by wavve Americas (wA), a collaboration between three top Korean broadcasters: KBS, MBC, SBS, along with SK Telecom. So, you can expect to find the most popular Korean dramas from major networks with English subtitles.
Kocowa on Amazon Prime Video
The CEO of wA, KunHee Park, highlighted how Korean content is becoming mainstream and expressed excitement about offering fresh Korean storytelling through Amazon Prime Video. This partnership will allow fans in the U.S. to watch Korean dramas more easily, fully subtitled in English.
Kocowa offers a variety of original programs, from K-dramas and reality shows to variety shows and even K-pop content. Accentuating the new partnership, some shows will be available on Prime the same day they air in Korea. Amazon has organized the channel efficiently, allowing you to find the Top 10 series or browse by genre, from romantic comedies to thrillers.
The original Kocowa app includes a live stream, though it’s unclear if this feature will be available on Prime Video. However, Amazon plans to add more content, mentioning that thousands of titles will become available over time.
How Much Does Kocowa on Amazon Prime Video Cost?
Kocowa on Amazon Prime Video offers a 7-day free trial. After the trial, the subscription costs $6.99 per month.
In Summary
