For November 2020, The Silver Petticoat Book Club has chosen a light and heartwarming read that will give you all the cozy feelings. So, heat up some hot chocolate, grab a blanket, and settle down by the fireplace with this charming festive novel.

For those of you new to the book club, we alternate between choosing newer books and classic books each month. This means one month we’ll pick a more contemporary book (published after 2000, with a preference for recent publications), and the next month we’ll pick a classic book (published before 2000). This month’s pick is a contemporary book.

THE SILVER PETTICOAT BOOK CLUB REVEAL (YOUR NOVEMBER 2020 READ!)

The Silver Petticoat Book Club pick for November is The Mischief of the Mistletoe: A Pink Carnation Christmas, a historical romance perfect for the holidays!

Have you ever read a book that made you laugh out loud? This entertaining historical romance will leave a smile on your face. Sometimes, you need a book that’s pure escapism! Inspired by Jane Austen’s unfinished novel, The Watsons, Jane is even a secondary character in this whimsical Pink Carnation novel. Jane Austen thinks Arabella’s story would make a fantastic novel after all.

Arabella Dempsey was supposed to be an heiress until her wealthy aunt fell in love and sent poor Arabella back home to Bath without prospects. Since she isn’t married, Arabella decides to become a teacher, an occupation Jane Austen herself warns her against.

Soon, Arabella meets the bumbling but sweet and lovable Turnip Fitzhugh. Everyone thinks he’s the spy known as the Pink Carnation because he bumbles around so adorably. Arabella and Turnip are quickly thrown together to solve a mystery involving a Christmas pudding and a mysterious message.

Adventure, mishaps, romance, and laughter follow in this delightful holiday novel. There are several books in the Pink Carnation series, but don’t worry—you can jump in because the story stands on its own. I’ve read just the first book before this one, and it was equally charming and hilarious. The Mischief of the Mistletoe is a captivating novel anyone can enjoy. You don’t have to celebrate Christmas to appreciate this fabulous story; it’s more about the festive setting. Lauren Willig’s writing will draw you in and sweep you off your feet!

In summary, there’s comedy, mystery, and an intriguing romantic hero for all the Bingley fans out there.
